My interest in music has been guided by the feeling of speculation that musical activity can admit such an enormous range of investigations of human consciousness and knowledge. As a composer and theorist, instead of following a single style, I allow a number of materials and ideas to influence the approach and method for each new work. I strive for craftsmanship and conceptual innovation in my music. The qualities that I appreciate most in a piece of music are intelligence, power, and sonic quality. Style of music is essential only in so far as it is a sincere manifestation of the composer's wish to correspond with his/her listeners. In fact, I believe when it comes to really good music, there are no styles, only people.
